The light softens, the air cools, and we are invited to slow down, to notice, and to listen more deeply.

Dear YOGA Magazine

Readers,

Greetings and Blessings!

October arrives with a quiet turning of the wheel of the year. The light softens, the air cools, and we are invited to slow down, to notice, and to listen more deeply. This issue of YOGA Magazine reflects that seasonal shift—a gathering of voices, practices, and perspectives that remind us that wellbeing is not just something we pursue, but something we live moment by moment.

We also pause to remember Victor Parachin (1946 2025), a beloved teacher, writer, and long-standing contributor to YOGA Magazine. For many years, his Words of Wisdom column illuminated the lives of great spiritual masters with clarity and grace. We dedicate this issue to his memory with gratitude.

Across these pages you’ll find a recurring theme: the search for harmony. Our writers explore how yoga, meditation, and other contemplative practices create balance—not only in body and mind, but also in how we relate to others and the wider world. From integrative approaches to healing that look beyond symptoms, to explorations of and Nada Yoga, each article points toward an understanding of health as something whole, interconnected, and deeply human.

We turn, too, to the wisdom of rhythm and ritual. Whether through sunrise yoga, embracing the sacred nights of winter, or finding flow in breath and movement, these practices honour life’s cycles. They remind us that resilience is not built through striving alone but through pausing, restoring, and allowing energy to move in its natural course. Listening—to our bodies as they age, to the subtle energies that animate us, and to the call of compassion—becomes a practice in itself.

This issue also asks important questions about the future. What role will yoga and spiritual practice play in shaping technology? How can inclusive projects bring yoga to those who might otherwise be left out, extending transformation beyond the mat and into society? Where do we create spaces of belonging at a time when so many long for connection?

We are fortunate, too, to share stories of teachers who live yoga as healing and service. Their journeys remind us that yoga is more than postures or philosophy—it is a way of being rooted in courage, authenticity, and care. Even our feature on wild swimming carries this essence: immersion in nature as a form of meditation, a reminder that the elements themselves can guide us back to wholeness.

As you read, I hope you discover not only inspiration for your practice but also a sense of companionship for the season ahead. May this October bring balance, renewal, and a gentle joy in simply being present—in your body, your community, and in the world.

With warmth and gratitude,

Yogi Maharaj Dr. Malik
